Within this context, since many years ago, for non-native speakers, the most difficult skill to acquire and develop is speaking due to the different factors that do not allow them to develop their oral communication. For this reason, the main aim of this research is to determine if gamification strategies help students develop their speaking skills. The proposal is based on a mixed method, which combines quantitative and qualitative instruments that helped the investigator gather information and analyze the results after the application of the gamification strategies. Besides, the instruments helped to analyze the students´ deficiencies and find the most suitable gamification strategies to apply in the classroom. The participants in this study were students in the 7th grade at a rural institution. The results obtained in this project indicated that the use of gamification strategies improved the students' oral performance. Therefore, it is evident that the intervention helped these students to increase their vocabulary, improve their pronunciation, use the right grammar, improve their fluency, and, at the same time, improve their communication. Through the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods and instruments, it is concluded that gamification strategies positively affect the development of speaking skills inside the classroom.
