Conducted in a bilingual high school with 21 students aged between 16 and 18 years, the research adopts a qualitative design. Data were collected through a diagnostic speaking test, observation checklists, and student surveys. The results showed improvements in fluency, coherence, and critical thinking. Hutchinson and Waters’ needs analysis guided the curriculum design. The findings suggest that debate not only enhances oral proficiency but also promotes student engagement.
