Effective teaching strategies to improve third-bachillerato students` speaking skills at bicentenario “d7” high school

Abstract
This research work aims to achieve development in the speaking skills of 3rd-year high school students at the Bicentenario “D7” Vespertino High School with the help of the Flipgrid application, the use of worksheets, flashcards through collaborative work, and under the premise of gradual practices that guide the students to become much more competent. Regarding the general research context, the Bicentenario “D7” Vespertino High School is located in the province of Pichincha, in Quito, Beaterio S-48 and E2D parish. The institution corresponds to 9 zone. The school shares the facilities with the Liceo Municipal Bicentenario who are the owners of the facilities, which is why this institution works only in the afternoon section. It has a medium level with the availability of initial, basic education, and high school. The beginning of the diagnostic evaluation is carried out with a group of 30 students aged between 17 and 18 respectively. The level established according to the European framework of reference for languages is A1. The methodology used in this research is of a mixed type, meaning that both qualitative and quantitative instruments are used to facilitate the development of this process for data collection. The research was transformative as it occurred naturally in the participants through non-probabilistic convenience sampling due to their accessibility and availability. After implementing the new activities and appropriate approaches, the results were optimal, as students could improve their oral skills. Therefore, applying these resources constitutes an important tool to help students enhance their "speaking" ability. Finally, this research work has demonstrated positive conclusions regarding the use and application of new activities aimed at improving the speaking skills of the aforementioned students. The use of flashcards for better retention of new vocabulary, activities that allow for the establishment of suitable foundations for the evolution of the learning process, and the use of the Flipgrid platform to encourage and motivate students to communicate without fear or hesitation in each of their class activities.
