Objective: This study aims to analyze the states of exception of President Guillermo Lasso in the Deprivation of Liberty Centers. Methodology: A qualitative, non-experimental, and descriptive-explanatory research was conducted, as well as a bibliographic review and deductive-inductive, analytical-synthetic, and dogmatic methods. Results: The research demonstrated that states of exception in Ecuador should be used only in situations of extreme gravity to protect fundamental rights; However, they have been frequently applied in prisons since 2019 to control prison crises, despite international recommendations on their restricted use and in accordance with international law. Conclusion: In Ecuador, states of exception and restrictions on civil liberties have become frequent, especially in prisons, reflecting a recurrent use of executive power without adequate legislative control, which requires greater citizen participation and education in rights.
