    The states of exception in the presidency of Guillermo Lasso due to internal commotion within the deprivation of liberty centers

    States of exception in Ecuador allow the president to restrict rights and take measures in the face of emergencies such as conflicts, disasters, or riots to protect public order. Objective: This study aims to analyze the states of exception of President Guillermo Lasso in the Deprivation of Liberty Centers. Methodology: A qualitative, non-experimental, and descriptive-explanatory research was conducted, as well as a bibliographic review and deductive-inductive, analytical-synthetic, and dogmatic methods. Results: The research demonstrated that states of exception in Ecuador should be used only in situations of extreme gravity to protect fundamental rights; However, they have been frequently applied in prisons since 2019 to control prison crises, despite international recommendations on their restricted use and in accordance with international law. Conclusion: In Ecuador, states of exception and restrictions on civil liberties have become frequent, especially in prisons, reflecting a recurrent use of executive power without adequate legislative control, which requires greater citizen participation and education in rights.
